In-Focus with Alice Edmondson

March 21, 2019

The people and the stories behind Focus Solutions.

In the In-Focus hot-seat this week is Alice EdmondsonProject Office, at Focus Solutions. Alice discusses her varied career and its subsequent pathway to Focus HQ, her love of gardening and the most stressful experience of her life…

How long have you worked for Focus?

About 15 months now, seems to have zoomed by.

What did you do before Focus?

I worked for Worcestershire County Council in Project management and programme support. I have had a variety of jobs over the years though, including lettings agent, Mortgage Advisor, contact centre team leader and mobile phone sales.

What made you follow this particular career path?

I had just finished an Open University degree and one of the modules was centred around the management of software development and I really enjoyed it. I was already working in Project Management role in the Council so when I saw this advertised it seemed perfect.

What does your day-to-day job entail?

This role is so varied which is why I love it! There is a lot of support to do for all the different projects and implementations which forms the crux of the work, but then there is also opportunity to do pieces for the Programme manager, the Dev manager and Product manager.

Favourite thing about working for Focus…

The people, hands down. I’m also learning everyday, there is plenty of opportunity to get involved with projects to push my knowledge and develop new skills.

Outside of work, how do you relax and like to spend your free time?

I socialise and travel a fair bit with family and friends, I love spending time in the garden and pottering in the greenhouse.

Interesting fact about you?

I have dabbled in floristry and done the wedding flowers for a few of my friends — the most stressful and anxiety filled experiences of my life!

You’re stranded on a desert island; what three things would you want with you?

iPad, bluetooth speaker and a selection of desert island suitable seeds please.
