Focus issues whitepaper on what makes a good provider extranet
release date: 11/11/2009
Focus Solutions has produced a whitepaper exploring what elements make a good provider extranet for the adviser market. With the role of provider extranet becoming an increasingly important factor in the decision making process for advisers when selecting a provider, this paper seeks to explore what advisers look for and what deters them from using these sites.
In the current climate, the research paper aims to guide providers on which enhancements to their current extranet sites would provide the best return on investment and was based on research carried out with over 35 different adviser firms across varying segments of the advice market. In addition to discussing what makes a good provider extranet, the paper also looks at what frustrations providers have with their current extranet solutions and what else they need to be considering about their extranet solutions in the future as the retail distribution landscape continues to evolve.
Commenting on the paper, Darren Bayley, Proposition Manager said, “Advisers and their support staff are more willing than ever to use e-commerce services from providers to cut unnecessary costs and duplication out of their businesses. Based on this and the amount that providers have invested into their IFA extranet services we felt it was important to explore these solutions in more detail. There were some very interesting findings in the report and particularly some simple recommendations, such as improving usability, which, if addressed, could easily drive more business through extranet sites.”
Bayley added, “We also felt it was important to include in the report how the Retail Distribution Review is affecting what providers need to be considering in the future for their extranet solutions, such as direct to consumer channels, as we see these developments as critical to their success moving forward.”
